Asan Mediterranean Village
20–30 min by car
949-1 Myeongam-ri, Tangjeong-myeon, Asan-si
Built in Tangjeong-myeon, Asan, the Mediterranean Village is a cluster of exotic European-style buildings that recalls a small country village on the Mediterranean. On one side of the road, the southwest is styled after Provence in southern France, with red roofs and castle-like walls; on the other, the southeast is modelled on Santorini in Greece, with round blue roofs and bright white walls. The most popular spots are the photo zones, such as the angel wings and a red lighthouse-shaped postbox. It is fun to look around the colourful, uniquely designed buildings and wander the charming alleys, lined with cafés, gift shops and clothing stores. Every other weekend the European-style flea market "Blue Market" opens, with shopping and performances; word has spread that local produce, regional specialties and handmade crafts are sold cheaply there, and more and more visitors come. The village festivals and guesthouses are also worth a look. The village is not large, so it pairs well with nearby Gokgyocheon Stream and Hyeonchungsa Shrine.

Oeam Folk Village
20 min by car
258-4 Oeam-ri, Songak-myeon, Asan-si
Designated Important Folklore Material No. 236, Oeam Folk Village in Asan has been a settlement for about 500 years. It preserves old yangban (noble-class) houses in the traditional Chungcheong style, thatched houses with stone walls (5.3 km in total) and gardens, and keeps a large collection of folk tools and artefacts. The houses bear names taken from their owners' official titles or home towns — Champan-daek, Byeongsa-daek, Gamchal-daek, Chambong-daek, Jongson-daek, Songhwa-daek, Yeongam-daek, Sinchang-daek and more — and stream water flowing down from Seolhwasan Mountain behind the village is channelled into the ponds for gardens and fire-fighting. A walk along the 500 m of mossy stone walls hints at the village's long history, and over the walls you can see the persimmon, apricot, chestnut and ginkgo trees planted in each yard.

Dogo Rail Bike
142-1 Sineon-ri, Dogo-myeon, Asan-si
From the city bus stop in front of Asan Express Bus Terminal, bus 430 takes you on a long ride to the Dogo Post Office stop. Around the old Dogo Oncheon Station, where Janghang Line trains once ran, the buildings and streets still look as they used to. The old station is both the start and the finish of the Asan Rail Bike. The window that once sold train tickets now sells rail bike tickets; buy one and head to the platform, where a signpost from the Janghang Line days still stands and autumn fields stretch out before you. Then off you go! The 4.8 km round trip from Dogo Oncheon Station usually takes about 40 minutes. Most riders are families with children, with the odd couple or group of friends. Leaving the platform, the rail bike runs between fields glittering in the autumn sun under a blue sky dotted with white clouds — a view that refreshes the eyes and the mind.

World Flower Botanical Garden
576 Bongnong-ri, Dogo-myeon, Asan-si

Flower festivals are held every year, with a new theme every two months — a winter flower festival in January–February, then tulip, daffodil and camellia festivals in March–April. You can also design a handkerchief with pretty flowers and leaves, or try repotting a plant.
